On a recent visit back to Osaka I hooked up with frequent collaborator and friend Ash Ryan for this photo shoot.

I’m still working on more photos in this series as well as motion versions of the stills. Here are some of the first few images from the shoot.

Our Forward Motion music video is being taken out for another spin, this time at Yogiga Expression Gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
I’m very happy to be showing some work for the first time in my new home here in Korea.
No Cell is a party to benefit North Korean refugees. It’s taking place this Thursday, February 7th from 8 to 11pm.
Check out the details below in the description from the Yogiga website:
NO CELL–
–experimental party
This is basically just a rad, it’s-almost-Friday hang out session.  We’ll have playing cards, tunes, spiral notebooks, maybe some videos.  Bring a game board if you like, or hell, just sit back and bask in non-phone-interrupted conversation with friends and friends-to-be.
The catch is, if anyone should catch a glimpse of your phone at any time, or even hears so much as a beep, you will be fined 500won for your infraction.  The 5,000won at the door and any penalties you incur will benefit the Citizen’s Alliance for North Korean Human Rights and their work with NK refugees.  There will be some educational materials available if you’d like to learn more about this issue.
Bring your own booze if you’d like, although I’m sure there’ll be makkoeli  and other strange cocktails floating around.  Also we’ll have a contest for the best homemade beverage or snackage.  The winner will take home a  genuine pack of Burmese cigars.
Hope to see you there!

“What do you think of a man who could run all day beside a trotting horse, and be fresh enough to preach that evening? A kind of a mixture of rubber, steel, electricity and the love of God, that’s what Francis Xavier was. He was what you might call a beefy saint.”

(from THE BEEFY SAINT Chapter 1: The Rocky Mountain Priest)

“TRANSNATIONAL ART 2013 OSAKA”

TRANSNATIONAL ART

FAR back in the twilight of the pictured history of the past, the cross is found on the borders of the river Nile. A horizontal piece of wood fastened to an upright beam indicated the height of the water in flood. This formed a cross, the Nileometer. If the stream failed to rise a certain height in its proper season, no crops and no bread was the result. From famine on the one hand to plenty on the other, the cross came to be worshipped as a symbol of life and regeneration, or feared as an image of decay and death. This is one, so called, origin of the Cross.
